Hi interwebz.

“Ghem, you’re doing too much. If you keep this pace you’ll burnout quickly” A friend told me that in the early days of all my projects and I really wished I had listened. Yes I have hit that point that something has to fall to the wayside unfortunately.

Sadly that thing is Warcraft.

I haven’t “quit” I still have my subscription running for now, I just won’t be in game much anymore.
It’s hard for me to really criticize anything Blizzard and I won’t. I am and will continue to be a fan of the Blizzard universe. However 5.4 was the straw that broke this camels back.

With the release of Mists of Pandaria, Blizz gave us more then we could think possible in a video game and each patch gave us even more and more and more and more. But did it really give us staying power content? In my opinion, no. Scenarios are a great addition, until you have run them seemingly thousands of times while waiting for ridiculously long LFR/LFG queues. That’s another thing. The queue times in MoP although noticeably better then Cata are still far too long for the normal person. Blizz has done things to try to make those times better and it’s a good start, but really you can’t force healers and tanks to take abuse in these groups.

Speaking of abuse in groups. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE! Sure this is the internet and you can hide behind your monitor and not suffer any real “punishment” for being a douchebag. But really, these are actual people playing this game A GAME. This isn’t a job, we play for enjoyment unless you’re extremely lucky to be a part of the 1% that actually has sponsors and such. Throwing around insults faster then your auto-attack is not cool dude and turns people off to the game. Thus making queue times longer as a result of people leaving or not playing the 2 roles that you need in a group.

Going back to all the things Mists have given us. While I appreciate everything there is to do, it’s too much. They have stated numerous times you don’t have to do everything, but as a gaming culture it feels like we need to. So we do; everyday. Then we get it all done and now what is there to do? Well not very much for a casual player like myself. I’m not shy about how casual I am. I don’t raid, PvP is too much for me and pandokemon although fun is too much to study about when I already study how to successfully play my class and gearing, gemming, reforging, rotation etc. It may be a game but honestly with all these variables it feels like a job after all.

So there it is. I don’t want to say this is my end in the world of warcraft since over the past years I have really had fun, met amazing people and had epic times. I just feel that as someone who doesn’t raid, there’s nothing left for me right now. I’m going to put more focus into my other blog Alone For Dinner and see where that can take me.

You may be wondering what will happen with the podcast. We’re still going to be recording every week, still chatting about WoW and the community. I’ve been playing long enough to still have plenty to talk about although current events I may not have much to chime in on.

Thanks to my friends from the Horde House podcast I have Final Fantasy XIV and have been enjoying my time there. If you want to find me I am Ghemit Whisperwind on Midgarsomr. Once a gamer always a gamer, am I right?

I wish nothing but the best for the lands of Azeroth and beyond, my beloved Alliance and hated Horde. All the hunters, night elves, gnomes and dwarfs. I love you all and I refuse to say good-bye. I say Aloha; until we meet again my friends.

*exits stage right. Curtain falls*

I love you. LIVE!
